Crew Members are specialised soldiers who fight as tank drivers, gunners, and commanders. You can equip these characters that aid you during battles by improving your tanks' attributes and bringing special combat techniques, including shields, bombardments, tank cloaking, and much more.
👉 Crew Members are available to Tier 3 players and above.
Overview
When you unlock the crew feature, you will need to recruit them by earning Respect Points, which can be found in live events, battle passes, crates, Spoils of War, the store, and more!
After recruiting a member, you will be able to add them to your tank crew, which will give you an advantage during battles. You can equip up to 3 members in your crew, each of them providing additional abilities and bonuses.
Out of the three members, one of them will be the "Active" member, and the other 2 will be passive members. The active is always the one in the middle position! Passive members will provide stat bonuses and passive abilities, but the active member will allow you to use their ability during battles (if you have the ability unlocked).
Where can you access Crew?
You can access the Crew via "Upgrades" in the Home screen or via your loadout before you head into battle:
The Headquarters (HQ) is the official page of Crew Members in the game, and it is split into three sections:
- Crew - Located on the left side, this section displays your equipped crew members and lets you swap positions between them.
- Abilities - Located in the middle, this section displays your current abilities and bonuses, provided by the equipped crew members.
- Roster - Located on the right side, this section allows you to scroll amongst all crew members in the game, where you can tap each to check more info on them or assign them to an empty crew slot.
In the example above, Cassandra Weaver is considered the "active" member, as she is in the middle position, meaning that her ability would be available to use during battles. In this case, Cassandra's active ability is Wheel of Fortune, which increases Movement, Turret, and Reload Speeds.
Additionally, the rest of the crew is providing more passive abilities, as we can see in the screenshot (below the Wheel of Fortune active ability). This crew is also providing a bonus of +4% Armor and +20% Turret Turning Speed during battles.
Stats, Passive and Active abilities
Each Crew Member has 1x active ability, 2x passive abilities and 4x stat boosters. You can assign up to three Crew Members and all those bonuses are going to be applied, except the active ability, which is limited to one and it's related to the member assigned in the middle (active member).
The active ability can be activated by pressing the ability icon during battle, similar to the way you would use a power-up in-game. It's located to the left of the Fire button.
👉 You can see any crew member's abilities and bonuses by tapping on them in the roster and heading over to Info. In there, you will find that each ability or stat bonus goes from a level 1 to a level 8 and has its attributes improved as you level up your crew member.
Ranking and Leveling up Crew
There are two different progressions for crew members: Rank and Level.
The Rank is attributed to Respect Points, the same ones you use to recruit a crew member and unlock them. The more Respect Points you get for a crew member, the more you'll increase their rank. You can earn Respect Points through live events, battle passes, crates, Spoils of War, the in-game store, and more.
⭐ Each crew member can go from Rank 1 to Rank 7 and for each Rank you unlock, a new ability or stat bonus will be unlocked with it.
Now, the Level is attributed to Experience Points, which are earned through battles, with that crew member assigned.
The correlation between the two is that for each Rank you unlock, there are 8 Levels within. This means that when you hit Rank 1, the levels go from 1 to 8. When you hit Rank 2, the levels go from 9 to 15, and so it goes until Rank 7, where the levels go from 44 to 50.
Since each Rank has 8 levels within, so do the abilities/stats you unlock with that Rank. So when you get to a new rank, you unlock a new ability, and you can then increase the level of that ability by increasing the level of your crew member. This often means incremental increases in damage, reload speed, armor, etc.
Let's use a practical example:
- You get 100 Respect Points through events, purchases, crates, etc, and you unlock Maximillian Carr
- Since you just ranked up, one new ability was unlocked - that happens to be Max's active ability (this is not always the case)
- The ability you just unlocked (Thrice Protected) is now at level 1, as it has just been unlocked
- In order to increase this ability's level, you need to increase your crew member's level
- Since you are currently Rank 1 in this example, you can increase Maximillian's level up to level 8
- Increasing the crew member's level will automatically increase the ability's attribute, making it better
How do I get Experience Points to increase the Crew's Level?
Crew members level up by gaining experience points from being used in battle. Crew members selected will get 100 XP times their Star Rank per battle, regardless of whether they are in an active slot or not.
When you have reached the experience required, you can level up by spending the listed coin total. When the Crew member levels up, they'll increase either:
- Active Ability
- Passive Ability
- Stat Bonuses
When you get to the max level of that specific Rank, you will need to acquire more Respect Points to rank up. Here's a full
- Rank 1: Levels 1 - 8
- Rank 2: Levels 9 - 15
- Rank 3: Levels 16 - 22
- Rank 4: Levels 23 - 29
- Rank 5: Levels 30 - 36
- Rank 6: Levels 37 - 43
- Rank 7: Levels 44 - 50
From Level 1 to Level 8 - Improves the first ability unlocked. From Level 9 to Level 15 - Improves the second ability unlocked. It goes on until the 7th ability is unlocked and fully upgraded!
